SLaMA-URM method for the seismic vulnerability assessment of UnReinforced Masonry structures: Formulation and validation for a substructure

چکیده
An analytical procedure based on the SLaMA (Simplified Lateral Mechanism Analysis) method is proposed for seismic vulnerability assessment of UnReinforced Masonry (URM) structures. The considers an equivalent frame discretization structure (pier, spandrel, and joint elements) includes: (i) evaluation moment?rotation capacity curves at each pier-spandrel subassembly; (ii) hierarchy strength in (iii) calculation curve according to expected failure mechanism. Validation SLaMA-URM achieved a one-story URM substructure tested under lateral cyclic loading. predictions are compared with numerical ones from 2D continuous finite element (FE) model macro-modelling strategy. flexural components estimated using monolithic beam analogy, results those traditional sectional analysis. influence geometry subassembly global levels investigated. formulation also be considered strength. validated subjected in-plane Results, terms crack patterns curves, relatively good agreement experimental FE results, even when bilinear approximation used. potential buildings thus demonstrated, whose application larger planned as subsequent study. • A approach extended integrating subassembly-level provides estimation damage structure. analytical-based calculate joints.

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Towards Displacement-Based Seismic Design of Modern Unreinforced Masonry Structures
Unreinforced masonry (URM) structures are known to be rather vulnerable to seismic loading. Modern URM buildings with reinforced concrete (RC) slabs might, however, have an acceptable seismic performance for regions of low to moderate seismicity. In particular in countries of moderate seismicity it is often difficult to demonstrate the seismic safety of modern URM buildings by means of force-ba...

15 صفحه اولScaling unreinforced masonry for reduced-scale seismic testing
When testing multi-storey structures, most testing facilities require the testing of a reduced-scale model. A literature review on tests of scaled masonry structural components revealed that scaling of masonry was rather challenging and often significant differences in stiffness, strength and failure mechanisms between the different sized masonry were reported. This paper addresses the scaling ...
متن کاملTesting unreinforced masonry structures at reduced scale
When testing multi-story structures on a shaking table, most testing facilities require a reduced scale model. Producing scale test units at small scale is particularly challenging for unreinforced masonry structures. Previous work by other researchers showed that scaling of units and mortar joints is mandatory in order to obtain for the reduced scale masonry failure modes, which are similar to...
